The Children At Green Meadows delivered all that and more. It is a delight, and it kind of put me back together a Sometimes Enid Blyton could be rather brilliant.

I picked this up in a second hand bookshop the other day as a treat to myself.4/5. There are three children in the Marshall family at Green Meadows — seven year old Sam, Clare who's nine, and then there's Francis the oldest who's a philosophical and resourceful young boy.

There's also Mr. Marshall who was wounded rather severely in the back during Hitler's war so he's confined to a wheel-chair and is looked after very lovingly by his wife. It's called The Children at Green Meadows, and you'd better pick up that book right now, because in the next hour or two it's going to crack your stony little heart.
